JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted January 1, 2016 Have a friend do karate chops on your neck and back a few times a day. Walk as much as you can. Swing your arms like a windmill. The only thing that gets rid of the surgical gas is time and movement. Good luck.
TheProfessor 378 Posted January 1, 2016 You list your surgical date as March 2014, so it doesn't sound like surgery-related gas (which I had - and oh my goodness yes, it was brutal, but then it 'passed' (ha!) after 48 hours. Are you on any kind of meds, ie; Tylenol 3's, that cause Constipation and gas retention? If it persists it sounds like a call to your physician may be in order.... Hoping you feel better very soon. TheProfessor 378 Posted January 1, 2016 @@windysample Okay then - you might wish to update your profile (once you are feeling better, of course!) to reflect the correct surgery date. Congratulations on your surgery. What a brave and brilliant way to ring in a new year. Yup, the gas pain SUCKS. Trust in the process - it will indeed pass. Its pretty nuts, isn't it? Gas-Ex helped me a little bit... that and just the passage of time. A couple of days and it will be resolved. Hang in there!

TheProfessor 378 Posted January 2, 2016 It will pass. That's all I can say. Hang in there. Misery loves company, so let me reassure you and tell you that I broke down and bawled, if that makes you feel any better. Get up and swing your arms, move around - walk. The sooner you are on your feet and active, the faster the gas will dissipate.
windysample 13 Posted January 2, 2016 I only had my surgery 1 week ago, so the feelings that you are having are still very fresh with me. I have a 14 month old and this surgery was firstly for my health so I would live long enough to see her grow up (she is my last when I was 41). I was a waiting list for nearly 10 months and was postponed once (for 14 days) so I hated the waiting but it gave me time to get my head around the whole issue and why I was going to do it. I had to go to the hospital which is 1 1/2 hours away from where I live, my husband had to look after the baby, and my grown up children had to work - but in some ways being alone was better because I met tonnes of people on my way and it made the time go quick - sometimes support people make you more nervous! It was all a spin - until they got me on that table to the needles - which I hate - I was surrounded by 7 men (various dr's and nurses - would have been interesting in another situation perhaps and they all held my hands and rubbed my head while they did their work with the needles etc, ................. next I woke up and I was so happy that finally I could live a more "normal" life, and was on my feet within a couple of hours because I was so determined that I wanted this - I was so excited I was busting out of myself! You will be fine - you will survive and it will make you stronger! Like others have said compared with having a baby it is fairly simple - but hard to compare at the same time - different ends really! Good Luck Glenda xx I got a little relief going now thank you Jesus!!! I was about in tears. ..my husband was bout to take me to er. I would rather give birth again drug free I think lol
TheProfessor 378 Posted January 3, 2016 Yes girl! I also gave birth without drugs and the gas pain won hands down. From here it gets better and better! Get some rest and get ready for the next phase...
