Medication and nausea

Recommended Posts

I had surgery December 14 then had emergency surgery to fix a complication on Dec 20th.

Anyway every time I take a shower I feel nauseated. Also after I take my medication I feel nauseated. Is that normal?

Not sure which surgery you had. I had bypass. I struggled with nausea for a LONG time. (Still do on occasion.) You can get a prescription for it (I take Zofran) or it could be from acid reflux so if you aren't taking a PPI, you might ask your dr about that. I also find when I haven't had enough fluids, that I have more nausea. If you are worried at all about it, don't hesitate to call your dr and ask.

I am with @@Daisee68 on this, it is likely dehydration. I would start there and if you are for sure getting all your fluids then follow up with your doctor.

Zofran or Metoclamprimide work great for me.

I hope you feel better soon!

I had bypass and I have zofran and take that after I get out of the shower but I wanted to know if a lot of y'all struggle with nausea. I'm going to talk to my Dr on Wednesday. I know I'm getting all my fluids all I'm not worried about dehydration. Thanks for your help :-)

I get nauseous every time I take my vitamins....esp the chewable MVI. I hope to find something different, I can't face a lifetime of those things! Bariatric Advantage...berry flavor. ...horrible!! Any ideas ?

Vitamin's and some pills make me nauseous. I have to eat before and after I take them. It helps and doesn't have to be alot of food. Bites of toast before and yogurt to chase it down.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
