So embarrassing but...I gotta ask anyway! Is anyone else suffering with horrible gas? Can this be treated?

You can try the GAS-X dissolvable strips. Walking helps too.

I have to say, this has been a horrible and gross side effect. I'm afraid to sleep next to my husband because I know I smell like a flatchulent pig all night! Please say this can be treated ! This is just gross and uncomfortable.

Yeah, I take that like crazy but, it's more how terrible the smell is! I know it's super gross and not very lady like to say all this but, it's really a source of anxiety for me all the time. Is there a way to fix how bad it is?

Certain foods cause more gas than others so it sounds like it diet-related. You can do a google search for gas-producing foods.

There is a special kind of underwear that has a charcoal insert to filter and diffuse gas as it passes through. I think I also read somewhere about charcoal capsules. I haven't used either.

All I know is, now that my husband is off active duty with the Army and we now sleep together every night, this is all I can think of! I'm so worried about him possibly being awake and hearing me all night long doing that! Why is life so embarrassing? ??

Try taking some Probiotics. They may help straighten out imbalances in your digestive tract (due to surgery and/or antibiotics). Call your surgeon's office too. You are not the first patient of theirs to have this problem.

P.S. Please thank your husband for his service to our country. And thank you for being supportive while he was serving.

I take Devrom also- it is an internal deodorizer. It helps tremendously! I doesn't get rid of the gas, but it makes the smell much, much better! I don't mind the gas as long as the smell is gone! I highly recommend.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
