Passport for Mexico?

Recommended Posts

Since the change of the passport laws, did you need a passport to get when traveling to and from Mexico? I have read so much conflicting information, I figure I'll ask here. Thanks!

Yes I've read that. But I've also read that Medical Tourism doesnt need one. Or that you only need one if you are walking across the border as compared to driving.

Some people have said just having your DL with you is sufficient.

I got a passcard. I was told it was required, and they asked for them when we crossed the border.

perfect! I just read up on them and they aren't nearly as expensive as the passports are! Thank you!

What is a passcard?

FYI: The card is only good for driving into Mexico or Canada. It is not good for flying anywhere at all, including those two.

Hello Everyone,

Since I do work at BP's Offices in Tijuana and deal with patients coming and going every day, I would like to mention 2 things:

1 By Mexican Law any and all foreign nationals are required to have a valid passport to enter Mexico. The way Mexican Inmigration work is that they search cars randomly and most people are lucky not to be asked to present a passport. If by any chance you have the bad luck and are asked to present your passport and don't have one, believe it or not, you can be deported, and the driver imprisoned for trafficking illegals.

2 To reenter the U.S. you do need your passport or passport card (the latter is preferable). Even if Mexico does border the U.S., it is still international travel and you are subject to secondary inspection that could be time-consuming and could cause you to lose your flight.

Please avoid any unnecessary problems and apply for your passport card.

Thank you

That may get you in to Mexico. It will not, however, get you back in to the US.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
