amyg80 45 Posted December 30, 2015 Has anyone tried eating tofu noodles after gastric sleeve? I'm almost a month out and would love to eat these again after I get into the general diet! I ate the b4 I was sleeved! It quenches my desire for Pasta. They only have 3carbs, 2 which are Fiber. And 10 calories per serving. Just curious. And of course I'll ask my NUT, but just wondering if anyone's had them after sleeve.
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted December 30, 2015 I would suggest zoodles instead. Easy to make, not processed. http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/zucchini-noodles/ I use a Veggetti to make mine.
ttdish 315 Posted December 30, 2015 I like edamame noodles. Good Protein source, and close in texture to regular Pasta. Two ingredients: edamame and Water. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

liannatx 897 Posted December 30, 2015 I love the Zucchini noodles, but I have been wanting to try the edamame noodles... I have heard they are good.
JourneyInside 9 Posted December 31, 2015 Can you post a link to tofu noodles? Never heard of them. I'm not allowed to have zoodles because I'm supposed to have just Protein not vegetables yet. However, tofu has lots of protein and that would be great.
amyg80 45 Posted December 31, 2015 Sure... Here it is. Not a lot of Protein in these though. http://m.luckyvitamin.com/p-161071-house-foods-tofu-shirataki-noodles-angel-hair-shaped-noodle-substitute-8-oz?loc=US&utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=fpl&utm_term=HouseFoodsTofuShiratakiNoodlesAngelHairShapedNoodleSubstitute8oz&utm_content=107819&utm_campaign=googlebase&site=google_base&scid=scplp2948125&gclid=CIvIyq6bhcoCFYElgQodX_wAzg
JourneyInside 9 Posted December 31, 2015 Thanks! And lol at the Protein amount. Seems like it would be good with chicken though, especially on nights when my husband eats pasta!!
Kathy812 794 Posted January 3, 2016 @@amyg80 I eat Shirataki noodles all the time ( I believe they are similar if not the same as tofu noodles?) but I didn't start until I was about 6 months post op. When we have spaghetti or stir fry, they are my go to noodles.
amyg80 45 Posted January 8, 2016 I asked my doc and she said its ok to try. I'll try then out abs see afar happens.
mmwishart 41 Posted January 12, 2016 I've tried Shirataki noodles too. I think they smell bad and have an odd texture. Have you tried spaghetti squash? Zucchini noodles are good too.
Kathy812 794 Posted January 12, 2016 I love spaghetti squash eat it w/spaghetti sauce from time to time. The Shirataki noodles have to be rinsed a few times and the smell is gone, at least the one I buy. The texture is a bit different but I like it. I pan fry it w/olive oil & have no problems. I keep saying I have to try zucchini noodles, but haven't yet. Maybe that will be on next week's menu.
suitechicguy 105 Posted January 14, 2016 I tried the Shirataki noodles and just couldn't do it. Between the smell and texture they just weren't for me. I do like doing the Zucchini noodles.
FrankyG 1,450 Posted January 14, 2016 I just saw these in the refrigerated healthy food section of my local Kroger and wondered about them. Now I think I might have to pick some up next time. I do miss my noodles!
amyg80 45 Posted January 14, 2016 My sister introduced me to them and is she warned me about the smell. My sense of smell is prob off bc I could hardly smell anything. Lol. I have tried spaghetti squash and I like it but like these way better. I'm going to be trying those zucchini noodles and also cauliflower rice. I've done the cauliflower mash and those are tasty. Gotta mix it up to keep it interesting.
