200 pounds a REAL look at weight loss (skin galore)

Recommended Posts

I can see what you are talking about, but your beautiful and to me that skin is like a wound, remnants from another life, I was at 388 in January and today I am at 256, after surgery on June 10th, I bed am losing very quickly, and I knew those before and after photos were going to let me down, it's very rare to look like some of those people in the pics but you are real as am I, I also found that I don't have as much excess skin as I assumed I would, especially since I do a lot of weight training, I'm very content to be the healthiest I've been my whole life and yes I also have side effects that bother me a little, sneezing during most meals, and constantly cold even in the summer, but I wouldn't hesitate to do it again, thank you for your honesty and open minded posting of what many consider to be extremely personal pictures of one's self, I would post too but I got a new phone yesterday and unfortunately my pictures didn't transfer, you have my admiration and respect.......

First off thank you for sharing and you are incredibly beautiful. Your photos are not bad at all as I have Googled loose skin after WLS and I have seen 10X worse! I am mostly impressed by your Arms(they look great). And your a super Mom so add that to your resume because you birthed those amazing children and did so naturally. My question to you is are you strength training and if so what's your routine? I'm 5 months post op HW:349, CW:260, Goal Weight:170, my height is 5'8

I have literally done no exercise what so ever. I have either been pregnant or my Iron has been so low all I can do is function enough to be a stay at home mom. 2016 is my year of "me" I hope <3

Beauty isn't defined by what's on the outside. You are beautiful. And YOU worked hard for this. Skin or no skin you should be extremely proud of what you accomplished. Thank you for sharing. I am just starting my journey and it's nice to have someone be honest. You look fantastic and I am sure you feel fantastic!

This is so courageous. Thank you. I always wonder why people are so worried about this. How is having extra skin so much more objectionable than carrying an extra hundred plus pounds? How many people are going to see that skin, anyway? I don't get what the big deal is. I do get that people need to understand that most of will never be super models after weight loss, but personally, I'd rather have a soft saggy belly than to be this heavy!

We have the exact same starting weight and very similar body types. I'm 3 weeks post-op but lost 124 pounds prior to surgery. My saggy skin was bad before and just keeps getting worse but to me- it's worth it! I sure didn't look good at almost 400lbs and so what if I don't look the greatest with my clothes off once I reach my goal ;-) Thanks for your honesty and inspiration.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
