Stalled for two years

Recommended Posts

My first year I lost 130 lbs and then just stopped losing. At first I was weight lifting and after a while it was just not doing any good so I lost interest in it and now I just try and walk. Because I have not lost in a while but maybe gained a little everyone is disappointed in me and says the surgery was a waste. I don't know exactly how much I have gained but at my lowest I wore 36 pants and now I'm in size 38. Which I started in a size 46-48. I think everyone expects me to be thin all the time. If I'm not losing I failed, and that is what I feel like is a failure. At first sugar made me sick but now I can eat sugar which isn't good, I need to cut it out. New Years Resolution possibly? My Vitamin D is low and I have heard that can effect weight loss, is that true? There are times I try and lose and nothing comes off. When I eat too much or to fast I still get sick so I know the sleeve still works, it just has seemed to stall. What do I do? I feel like I have let everyone down.

I am so sorry you feel so discouraged. Losing 130 pounds is a tremendous success.

What should you do if you aren't happy with where you are? You took the first step by asking for help.

I would suggest that you make an appointment with your NUT and your PCP. Talk with your NUT about your goals related to weight loss and talk to your PCP about your physical issues and get some current blood work. You may also want to talk with your PCP about how discouraged you feel. You may be depressed.

If you know you are low on D are you taking a Vitamin D supplement? I have been taking extra D3 since I began considering surgery.

In the meantime, go back to basics.

Follow your program. Make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and fluids every day. Take all of your Vitamins and supplements as directed. And, exercise. Walking is great. Also consider finding something fun to do that is active that you can enjoy doing,

You have been successful before. You have the tools to continue until you reach your goals.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Embrace the Stall!

First of all, quit beating yourself up. You've done an awesome job with the weight loss. You have not gained that much. Going from a 36 to a 38 waist is not that bad. You can get back to the 36 and even a 34 if you want it bad enough. Next, you had the sleeve done for yourself and your health and not for others! We get off the bus sometimes, but, we get back on. Ta heck with what others say!

It sounds like you might be hooked on carbs (sweets) and you have to decompress your body from them. What worked for me was the induction stage of the Atkins diet. I did it for 2 weeks, lost a little weight and kicked the carb habit. It really worked for me. Another thing that I do every couple of months or so is go on a Protein liquid diet for a week or so, where I'll replace Breakfast and lunch with a shake, then have one meal per day. This seems to shrink the sleeve and you get full quicker.

Stalls come and go. I was at a stall for over a year, maybe longer. To break the stall, I started doing cardio intervals and have lost about 15 pounds since. You have to keep looking for what works for you.

My weight loss has been extremely slow with the sleeve, but, my clothing fit better, so, I know that I'm losing inches. I just recently tried on a 32 waist pant size and was able to get into them, tight, but, just the fact that I was able to button them blew me away. Heck, I don't remember ever wear anything that small. I also started at a 46 waist 5 years ago and wear a comfortable 34 now.

You can do this! Do this for yourself and never ever give up! Jake

Losing 130 lbs is a great accomplishment. Your body has to be doing better than it was. Be proud of yourself and make good choices moving forward. I jumped up past my weight limit I set for myself and I went back to Protein shakes for a few days. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Sometimes it's more mentally challenged so hold your head up high.

Thanks for all your kind words it means a lot to me. I did do the Atkins diet years ago and it was not that bad, I think I will try jump starting with that and see how it goes.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
