Pedro Valle-Inclan 275 Posted December 29, 2015 No, geeez... But in terms of such a problem thank god I'm a guy lol But seriously, I am curious about what other possibilities are in terms of Vitamin and nutrient deficiencies, things we don't often hear about
retzlpa 98 Posted December 29, 2015 First off, this can be a sign of a very serious medical problem! If the ridges are running up and down its probably Calcium related or a sign of malabsorbtion. If they are running sideways........call your Dr. In the morning. This is a bad sign, this could be a very serious disease or worse, it's also a sign of arsenic poisening! James Marusek 5,244 Posted December 29, 2015 Vertical nail ridges often become more numerous or prominent with age, possibly due to variations in cell turnover within the nail. If your fingernails change color or you develop horizontal nail ridges, consult your doctor. These changes could indicate an underlying health condition. dhrguru 1,238 Posted December 29, 2015 Are you male or female? If female-- do you get gel manicures? Gel manicures are notorious for destroying nails...
Djmohr 6,965 Posted December 29, 2015 I have verticle ridges on my nails that have definitely gotten worse following my surgery however this is a symptom of psoriasis. I have psoriatic arthritis. Since surgery that disease has definitely not improved, it has flared but this is a disease that is very severe for me and difficult to get back into remission. I am working hard with my dermatologist to get it back into remission. Do you have psoriasis? It might be flaring if you do, and even if you never had the nail ridges before, they can flare at any time.
