No Hunger At All

Recommended Posts

This is my first posting, hope I'm doing it right.

I had my sleeve surgery 12/2/15. It'll be four weeks this coming Wednesday!.. I have absolutely no hunger at all--- is this normal? I really have to fight to get in the required grams of Protein and can't stand those Premier Protein drinks any longer.

I'm not sure what normal is, but I was sleeved 1st October and have absolutely no hunger - I eat mainly by knowing what times I should eat to keep my day balanced.

oct 7th sleeve. i was the same. and even now, when i get "hungry" i have no appetite so nothing sounds good. i literally eat just to keep from starving. not enjoying food right now. i'm with alwtg. i eat to live and by setting times. sadly i still have to count on premier Protein shakes just so i can keep fueling my body and losing weight.

Just after surgery and up to a month ago I had to remember to eat. I set my alarm for meal times.

Now 5 months after surgery I still don't have hunger but all of a sudden my body tells me I need to eat. It's hard to explain but it's working for me. I have cut down from 6 meals a day to 3 and one snack.< /p>

Isn't it great??

The part of the stomach that has the hunger hormone ghrelin has been removed. Part of the reason the surgery works as well as it does to lose the weight. But fear not, it seems to be temporary. Some people feel no hunger for years, some it comes back in a matter of months. Either way, take full advantage of it while you can to change your relationship with food and learn newer, healthier eating habits. That way when the hunger does eventually return, you will have a good grasp on what it takes to maintain a healthy weight :)

Hello all,

I was sleeved July 27, 2015. Initially, I was not hungry at all. Now, 5 months later and close to 60lbs down, I do get hungty. However, a few bites of food satisfies me. I ate more than the norm during the holidays, but still lost weight because of my choices and gym workouts. Good luck to you all. We can do this!

Hang in there. I'm at week 5 after surgery and now that I can eat some things, the one shake I have for Breakfast is not too bad. I have no hunger at this point either and I'm taking full advantage of it!

I will be three weeks post op on Wednesday and I am pretty sure I am having hunger pains. I wake up in the morning with this really painful sensation in my stomach which I think is just the new way of me feeling hunger. Based on what I have learned so far about VSG it affects everyone differently. At first I was not sure if it was hunger, but since it has been happening every morning I think that is what it is. Just my thoughts.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
