Loose skin after Gastric Sleeve

Recommended Posts

I am 18 years old, 5' 4 and I weigh 230 pounds. I was wondering if anyone similar to my stats, who have had this surgery had to deal with loose skin after getting sleeved?

I'm not your age, but the thing you have on your side is your youth. Losing a large amount while you're still young means your skin likely will rebound much, much better than in your 30s or 40s.

If you lose weight slower, and make sure to exercise and keep hydrated and hit your Protein goals, you should be okay, and once you hit goal weight, your skin will continue to improve; most plastic surgeons won't even evaluate you until you've been a stable weight for one year because they know skin continues to tighten and adjust during that time. You may be lucky and not have any issues after a few years. But anything that doesn't tighten up can be fixed eventually if it is really bugging you.

The big thing is that a little loose skin is nothing compared to how great you'll feel losing all that weight. ;)

I'm 28 5'3 and weighed 240 when I started this journey. I've lost 32 lbs so far and my skin doesn't feel saggy at all. My boobs are a little droopy but that's what a good bra is for lol. Your young skin has more elasticity in it and you should not have much extra skin if any. Try using Vitamin e oil . That helps.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
