Morning tummy is smaller?

Recommended Posts

Here is a thing where someone needs to check my thinking perhaps. Is it my imagination, or is my stomach smaller in the morning? My husband, who has had lap band for 6 years or so, claims he can only eat about 1 egg for Breakfast, nothing more. At dinner, he can eat a lean cuisine size portion.

My sleeve was done 12/8, and I can't get two bites of egg in me at breakfast, but can get 4 or 5 bites of "solid-ish” food later in the day.

Is my stomach smaller in the morning? Or is it just not waking up?

Also, eggs are not my friend any more. Especially overcooked scrambled eggs. Over easy is just tolerable. I need soft poached.

I had sleeve surgery in July and I still do not like to eat much at all in the mornings. Even Water, to me, is uncomfortable until about 10-11 am. Doc says it's normal, and for some it goes away and for others that's just an adjustment you have to deal with. I don't like eggs so I can't help you there, sorry! My mom who had lap band a few years back has the same issue about eating in the mornings as well. Good Luck!

Maybe it has to do with acid?

I love eggs and eat eggs but they are a somewhat dense food, and provide amazing nutrition. Of course meats are most dense and most difficult but what we are mostly supposed to be eating. If you just had your surgery on 12-8...well I only went to mushies after three weeks. So try making a savory egg custard. That means egg plus milk mixed and cooked in a ramekin in a Water bath. It will be cooked but not "hard". Most Lean Cuisines have little Protein or nutrients but tons of preservatives and lots of liquids sauce in them. That is why they are easier to eat. I believe that we can all eat more chicken Soup than chicken.

It's just the texture and moisture level of your food that is allowing more or less.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
