What's your morning routine?

Recommended Posts

Hello! I'm about 2.5 weeks post-op and am currently in the purée phase. With the guidance to avoid eating and drinking at the same time, I'm wondering what people do first in the morning? I'm usually thirsty when I wake up so I find myself drinking first thing in the morning. But with my morning schedule/routine, that often means that I don't get around to eating until 2 or 3 hours after I've been awake. So do you eat or drink first? And any arguments for/against doing one over the other?

Following. I'm a coffee drinker first thing in the morning, but I know that's off the table for at least several months.

I have a 24oz bottle of cordial (mainly Water with a touch of sugar free juice) whilst driving to work. Usually after an hour or so I have a 24oz Protein latte and that often sees me through to lunch. With the latte it's a double bonus of Fluid and 15g of protein.

I usually drink my coffee first thing in the morning followed by a shake and then Water. Then a snack, lunch then a couple more hours of drinking fluids etc.

I have my thyroid tablet then wait 30 mins before drinking a Protein Shake. My doc says no liquids 5 mins before eating and 20 mins after eating. I find that my biggest struggle as I want to eat and drink at the same time. Sleeved Dec 1st 2015.

I was still on liquids at 2 1/2 weeks so it wasn't an issue. But hydration and Protein are more important than the quantity of solids at this point. For the first couple months I just had a 24-32 oz Protein smoothie in the morning and killed 2 birds with 1 stone.

Even now, two years out, I typically drink 20 oz of Decaf coffee or tea before my first food of the day, which is a Quest bar around 10am. Then a protein smoothie for a midday snack. (I don't get a lunch break at work). So basically I get 45-50oz of Fluid and 40-50g protein before I really eat any actual food. Most of my "meals", including fruits and veggies and solid protein happen after 5 or 6pm You will eventually figure out what kind of schedule works best for you.

When I'm home I usually drink a boldhouse Protein shake with 32 grams of Protein in it then I take my Vyvanse. Between the two, this will kill my hunger for the rest of the day and I have to remember to eat. After I first had surgery, it was the broth then light foods. I never did the puree thing but probably should have.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
