I'm sorry you're feeling sad. Know that you aren't alone. You've lost more than 100 pounds....that's fabulous!! Despite your mom's unkind comments you are doing a spectacular job.

Are you still trying to lose and having trouble, or just upset about things right now?

Congratulations on your weight loss. I know it's hard to deal with the expectations of family members, especially when they don't truly understand how hard it is.

I agree with the question above. Are you happy with your weight loss? Do you want to lose more?

Have you talked with your NUT about your goals?

You get to decide how you want to proceed from here whatever your particular goals are.

I have battled depression for years. May I recommend you also talk to a counselor or therapist? There is nothing wrong with seeking professional help to deal with depression and issues related to self esteem, image, weight loss, etc.

See if the psychologist who cleared you for surgery can see you or refer you to someone who is experienced working with weight loss surgery patients.

I also recommend a book I read recently. It's called Eat it Up! and was written by a therapist for people who have undergone weight loss surgery.

Do not give up. This is a lifetime and life saving journey. Just get up everyday and do something positive that will move you towards your goals. This is not a race and/or a competition. Therapy is often very helpful. Your journey is not over keep it moving this is something that only you can do! Be brave and steadfast!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
