December 15th sleevers

Recommended Posts

I feel like I'm starving! These Protein Shakes, broth, and creamed Soups are not keeping me full. I get to move to soft foods next week, and it couldn't come soon enough! Just hoping I'm not the only one out there that feels hungry. ????

I was sleeved on 12/14 and I was allowed puréed food the next day. Still have 1 Protein shake/day to help meet protein goal. I actually successfully went out to dinner tonight and had broiled sole. It was yum! You will like the next phase and should be less hungry. Good luck!

I was sleeved on December 14th......I always feel hungry too. I think some of its head hunger and some of it is me wanting to eat like I usually do. So I usually try to drink more of my Protein Shake to feel full.

I feel you, I was sleeved on the 15th and until I could move to the smooshy soft foods I was a mess. Not hungry as much as I felt weak and tired

and yes that Facebook page for December is a GREAT resource.

Is it a secret FB group? I'm interested, but not in plastering my business all over FB world :D I was sleeved on the 14th.

It's not! I posted in it and then a girl I work with texted me saying she could see what I posted. So I left the group.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
