Yay! My hair is growing back!

Recommended Posts

I had heard a lot about Biotin, but I did not take supplements because Biotin is in my multi-vite. But last month...desperate and willing to try anything...I started taking 5,000mcg biotin supplement everyday. I'm seeing my hairline filling in....I should have started taking the stuff right from the start....but happy now to see hair growing. :D

I actually had no idea your hair could fall out. This scares me a little. How did you notice? Meaning were you washing your hair and suddenly grabbed a ton in your hand? Sorry if the question sounds silly. lol

Yes, that's what happens. I notice more in my hairbrush, the sink, and coming out in my hand when washing. It's not coming out in handfuls, and I'm not balding, but I'm certainly "shedding" more than normal!

I'm afraid to do anything with my hair...blow dry, curl, color... Hands full just from shampooing! I'm about 6 1/2 months out. When does this stop?

I have taken Biotin all along and I still have hair fall. I hit 3 months and nothing, I thought maybe i was good. 3 months and 1 week and it happened! It is a little alarming. So far i don't think anyone but me notices, but i am super nervous about that.

Mine fell out like crazy! I was scared I'd be bald.. luckily I have enough hair for 5 people.....literally! But mine finally started slowing down and I can see baby hairs coming through. I'm 8.5 months out and it has happened for the last several months

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
