Weight Gain After Sleeve

Recommended Posts

I am 2 yrs going on 3 in February post op. I lost a total of 60 lbs in the first year but re gained 45lbs that's a lot. In that time I went through a separation, relocated to a new state and fell back to my old eating habits this is hard to admit but I need help again. I'm working on eating better however I need help, tips how do I start my weight loss again. BTW does anyone else feel hungry all the time?

Have you tried going back on the pre-op liquid diet for a month to see what that does.

Perhaps you'll be able to feel some restriction again afterwards.

I watched a vlog of a young lady who attended support groups of others who had WLS, perhaps you can find that in your area and get some face to face support as well.

I know how hard that can be. I'm experiencing the same thing. I have started making 5 small meals a day. However, staying on track has been difficult. I find that I need support to help me lose. I've joined a lot of WLS groups on Facebook and really try to stay connected. I am doing better and will continue to see support where ever I can find it.

If you want, we can exchange recipes, and be friends on a food tracking app. I'm using the Lose It app right now to track my foods.

You can do it! I know you can.

I would suggest you make an appointment with your NUT, find a good therapist, and go back to basics.

Your NUT can help you with a good eating plan and a therapist can help you learn new, healthy skills for coping with life changes and stress. See if the therapist who cleared you for surgery can see you or recommend someone who has experience working with bariatric patients.

A good book I read recently, called Eat It Up! might be helpful for you. It was written by a therapist who works with weight loss surgery patients.

In the meantime, go back to basics.

Follow your program.

Track your food.

Make sure you are reaching your Protein and Fluid goal daily.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as recommended.

Exercise.

And, be patient with yourself and Embrace the Stall!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
