The One Thing No One Tells You About Losing Weight

Recommended Posts

I TOO HAVE LOST MOST OF MY CUTE BUBBLY CHEEKS, I HAVE THOSE SMILE LINES TOO. I WAS VERY AFRAID OF LOOKING OLDER BUT I THINK ALL IN ALL I LOOK YOUNGER. I KINDA LIKE THE SMILE LINES - I KNOW THAT'S WEIRD....THE PART I WORRY ABOUT MOSTLY IS MY FUNNY LOOKING NECK. HOPEFULLY THAT WILL SHRINK UP MORE ON IT'S OWN. I HAVEN'T DONE ANY CREAMS OR PEELS BUT I DO NEED TO BE PUTTING SOMETHING ON MY NECK TO HELP. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IN THE WORLD TO USE.

Has anyone tried those wraps? the ones for sagging skin? Do they work?

I have tried the wraps and didn't think they helped. I do botox and fillers. Works like a charm. Everyone now tells me I look 10 years younger because of the weight loss....haha no one needs to know about the rest. And I only lost 50 lbs and could see the lines and sunken eyes.

I'm 29 and have lost quite a bit of weight. My husband doesn't believe me but I feel like I look older. Mostly people say I look great, younger but I notice it when I look closer and in photos. I was 248, now 122

I have heard that Rodan + Fields can really help that....I just started losing so I can't say firsthand, but the folks I know that use it regularly look SO much younger. I wanna become a consultant someday when I have the extra money to get started....my dream - to be healthy & loving myself. ????

I am newly sleeved so can't comment on personal experience but one of my co-workers is a Rodan & Fields consultant and sells the product to many people. I have to say, the ones I know and have known for a while look really good. The products they are using really are making a difference, not to mention she is an older woman and her skin looks great. It has definitely caught my attention!

Possible note to self about this Rodan & Fields product!

I already do feel like I look older and can see it a bit in my neck.

But I still have a lot to lose and I'm also on a medication that changes the shape of your face. (And it has for me. When I weighed this weight in the past - I had a skinny long face and I don't this time. It's smaller, yes but my cheekbones are still hiding and I have jowls! Nobody agrees with me on this but I swear I do!)

@@vsghealthymom,

You mentioned that you are now down in your 120's and I think that is when I really noticed looking older. Once I got to around 125 (I'm usually 124-127), I noticed more of a sunken in look. Would gaining weight really help the problem? I think gaining even a few pounds at this point would very hard for me to do mentally. I'm going to wait it out and see if time helps the problem some.

@@WL WARRIOR

Have you tried a really good dermatologist? One with an esthetician on staff? The derm and a medical grade/train esthetician could help you a lot, at least to the point where you can decide if you need something more drastic. I would give that a try for a few months.

@@OutsideMatchInside,

I do have a dermatologist, but there is no one on staff there that is qualified to do fillers or lasers. My insurance wouldn't cover it anyhow. It's still probably something I will look into once I hit 40.

I am planning to do a Fraxel " Repair" laser on my face neck décolletage and my tummy when I get my bonus next year to help firm things up. Fraxel repair goes deeper (1.6mm) than traditional Graceland lasers. It will NOT be as good as plastic surgery but I figure that if I do it once a year at bonus time within like 5-10 years I should be looking good. My mom is 68 and she had the surgery about 8 years ago and I see that she has saggy skin in the same places that I'm worried about. Hats off to those that do plastics and maybe almost a year from now I will change my mind, but at this point I wish to avoid anymore surgery if I can. Thrilled as hell with this one but I just don't like that weak feeling for weeks afterward when on limited activity. I want to kick butt all the time;-)

I just got the face fat transfer, I thought I was okay before, but that fullness in the upper cheeks really helps. I am 51.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
