Me too. Went to Christmas Eve lunch and they kept trying to tell me what I could eat at a restaurant when nothing would work. Grilled tuna had sesame seeds. chicken salad had celery. Everything had something minor in it that I can't eat. There was a lobster roll on the menu but I didn't want my dad to pay $20 for something I could only eat a small portion and then they didn't have it anyway.

@@tracy amanda and @A New KK my first Christmas too but I just made a small plate and ate sweet potato, turkey and a bite of Mac and cheese. no rolls, stuffing or dessert. I blew it on the 24th so I am trying to get the rest of my @$$ back on the wagon. almost 8 months post....trying to be -100 in five days...4lbs. don't think I am going to make it but I am hoping to be really close.

this isn't a diet. it's a lifelong commitment to eating better, even with challenges!

I find that a menu is simply a list of ingredients available in the kitchen. Ask for exactly the ingredients you want. On a small plate. As a side.

I usually find that to be the case but in this instance it was Christmas Eve and what was listed was what they had. They would allow no substitutions and would not cook anything to order. I just had a shake when I got home. It bothered my family way more than it bothered me. I do however find it stressful when everyone is trying to help me find something to eat.

Ugg, I understand. Helpful people achieving the opposite effect. Glad you said "fagetabout it" and got your shake.

I totally understand...but I found sitting at a table better than being left out of the meal (which is what hubby and kiddos did on Turkey day)...they were trying to be kind then..but that really hurt my feelings! I'm lucky in a way that nothing really sounds good, so I just sat and talked with them and enjoyed :-)

Loaded up my plate at Christmas dinner so as not to feel awkward, figuring I could toss it later. But then all the dishes were collected and I kept being asked if the food was okay/was I still hungry/why did I not eat. Ah, holidays <_<

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
