3 days post op and I feel GREAT... is something wrong?

Recommended Posts

I am 3 days out and I have no pain, I am drinking with no issues, have not thrown up, I was expecting something different.

Since my BMI was only 30 I had the doctor make the stomach a little bigger, the size of an banana and a half I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Take it as a blessing. :) Some people are the lucky ones with no pain or nausea. Good luck on the rest of your journey.

Sounds great. Most people don't have a lot of issues.

Just take it easy and don't push too hard. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. You MAY experience a loss of energy and tiredness as you heal or you may be just fine.

Stick with your program and you should be fine!

Except when I first woke up, I've never really felt pain. Went to work 5 days later. I do get tired faster. My BMI was 48.

I think everyone just reacts differently to anesthesia. Consider yourself one of the lucky ones. I was downright miserable for the first 2 days post-op. Then by day 3, I started feeling better.

I felt this way also! I went through a period where I actually thought this has to be too good to be true, and felt guilty because I didn't have any pain or discomfort. But I'm 5 months post op now and down 75 lbs. I didn't have any big issues. I'm grateful for a quick recovery but when I asked my doctor he told me that most of the patients don't have any big issues. It's the few that have complications that you hear the most about. Good luck!

Same here. I was sick as a dog in the hospital and was actually asking my mom why I did this and if I can take it back but by day 3 I was good. Nausea was still a little bit there but other than that I felt fine.

I was one of the lucky ones too, I had no pain or discomfort post operative either. I went back to work one week later (desk job) and have counted myself very lucky. I had prepared myself mentally for the worst based on other peoples experiences. It really is an individual journey for every single person.

Congratulations, BUT do not push yourself. Follow the guidelines set by the physician so you don't have complications. No matter how good you feel you are still healing on the inside.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
