Do you PB or SLIME with sleeve like the lapband?

Recommended Posts

I had a band to sleeve revision on Nov 5th and I have never experienced pb or slime.

Are you saying you used to PB and slime with your band and since the sleeve you have not?

I had the band for 8 years. Revised almost 6 months ago and haven't pb or slimed once. It's a much easier surgery in my experience. You will be well prepared to eat properly.

I do not have any of the horrible experiences I had with my band. I finally feel like a normal person. I wouldn't trade my sleeve for anything.

Thank you for the reassurance. I was hoping other banders who have gone to the sleeve would have more normalicy. I can not stand the PB or slime with this band. Eating out is a chore as I find I have to get up to the bathroom at least 2x a week.

Thanks

Congrats! This is wonderful news to hear. I was hoping this was the case.

I had my lap band removed 2 years ago because it slipped. I used to vomit all the time. I just got sleeved on December.14th so it is new to me. I was nauseated in the hospital right after but no vomiting just some dry heaving. So far I've only experienced stomach aches but no vomiting.

Keep us posted on your progress. I can not wait to have the band removed from all the vomiting.

The difference is huge. I had a slip and bad scar tissue/adhesions... The last year with the band I was sliming or puking pretty much daily. With a totally unfilled band... even oatmeal would at times not go down.

The sleeve has been great. I have not experienced any vomiting at all. It is such a blessing! I have foamed/slimed a few times in the first months... but quickly learned not to take even one bite past my satisfied stage. As much as I grew to hate the band, I love being sleeved. I wish this surgery had been common when I was banded.... it would have saved me a lot of suffering.

In the 16 months since surgery, I haven't slimed or vomited once. Just some regurgitation from GERD early out.

I'm only 4 months out and haven't experienced any sliming, foaming, or vomiting.

I don't eat particularly slowly, either

A few times in the middle of the night, I have regurgitated, which is an unpleasant way to wake up .

But otherwise, I haven't had any problems.

I haven't come across anything I can't eat yet, either.

I had my band for 14 years and revised to sleeve 4 months ago. Difference is night and day. I PBed, threw up, and slimed all the time with the band particularly in the last few years. Have not had any issues with the sleeve so far. Tried a steak two nights ago for the first time because I was eating at a family event and that was what they had. Had a few bites and knew instinctively I wasn't ready for it so I ate some sides. So far loving the sleeve. While I can eat waaayyyy more than what others post on here, I think it will be the perfect amount to maintain once at goal by making good choices. I would not go back for anything.

I am 10 months out and have never slimed or PB. To be honest I don't even know what that is but I can tell you I have followed my doc's orders and I have not had any problems whatsoever other than bad acid reflux after the surgery. Took medicine for two days and it never came back.

My band has flipped....it really messed me up...that is also why I refuse to let anyone cut out 85% of my stomach....no way

The bypass procedure is much more invasive than the sleeve. I don't understand why you would be afraid of the sleeve but fine with the bypass. Fortunately, both types of surgery have a very low complication rate.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
