Cross Country RV Trip

Recommended Posts

In a few weeks I am flying out to Phoenix to pick up an RV and then drive it back to the East Coast. I will only be bringing a small suitcase with me and the RV will be empty (no plates, cookware, or utensils). I am about 4 months post-op and was looking for some meal suggestions for this week long trip. The RV does have a refrigerator, hot Water, stove, and microwave. My plan at this point is to stop at a Walmart after picking up the RV to pick up supplies for the trip. Here is my partial list at this point:

- Ready made Protein drink (Premier Protein)

- Small frying pan

- Paper plates

- eggs

- Cooked grilled chicken

- Yogurt

- Lunchmeat (turkey)

- Bottled Water

Any suggestions for easy to prepare meals for this trip would be appreciated.

Some kind of container you can use to cook in the microwave with would be good. Even disposable coffee cups will do to heat things in there as well as make coffee or tea. Cottage cheese goes with everything when you want Protein. Rotisserie chicken, good for meals or to pull apart and snack on. Protein Bars, low fat string cheese, nuts, canned tuna or salmon with pull open tops or in foil packs. Protein Powder can be sprinkled on or stirred into anything, powdered milk. Those are pretty much my must have when camping. Enjoy your trip.

Almonds and string cheese are great suggestions for a road trip. The good news is that I can bring home anything I buy along the way.

I am trying to avoid truck stops and greasy food joints on my trip.

I would get some jerkey. I think it's required to have some Jerky on a road trip LOL

if you have hot Water some single serve meal options would probably be convenient. They have oatmeal, macaroni, mashed potatoes, Soups....

I agree that a road trip across Texas requires Jerky.

I might visit my local Walmart to see what single serve options they carry. oatmeal sounds good. I don't usually buy single serve containers, but they make sense for this trip.

Don't forget a knife, fork ,and spoon to pull apart the chickens and to eat with plus some zip lock baggies as you will have lots of left over food to package up to place in the refrigerator. Good luck on your trip and I hope all goes well.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
