Got up and worked out at home this morning. So far today I have had: dry Protein Cereal, a Protein Bar, a multigrain fruit bar, a fage plain yogurt with honey, a 100 calorie pack of trail mix, three bottles of Water and a cup of coffee and I am starving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For lunch, I have some chicken both, going to add some cut up chicken strips and a Protein Bar. I want some tater tots sooo bad. Just a few. Ugh!

Are you trying to kick a carb habit after going back on the carb wagon? How many carbs are in the "protein cereal", "protein bar", fruit bar, and trail mix you had?

I will admit that I awful with tracking food. I hate it, I think there is about 17 in the Protein bar and 20 in the fruit bar. Not sure about the Cheerios Protein Cereal or the trail mix. There were only snack bag sizes so maybe not too much.@@JamieLogical

My thought was just that maybe if you are getting in a lot more carbs than Protein, you Snacks aren't really keeping you full feeling as long as they might if you focused more on high protein snacks? But even if it was all carbs, that does seem like a lot to have eaten and still be hungry. So far all I've eaten today is a protein bar and some cheese and it's already 2:00pm here. Will be having my afternoon snack in a few minutes though.

@@JamieLogical what you said makes sense. My doc and NUT told me to increase my liquid Protein which will keeps me fuller. Also, to increase my calorie intake because I am not eating enough food. I didn't really believe it at first but I think they are right. I need to stop being so hardheaded.

It does sound like you are getting a lot of carbs and maybe not as much protein as you think you are. In regards to the Cheerios Protein cereal, they are actually being sued for making misleading claims about it's protein content-- see this article: http://www.forbes.com/sites/nancyhuehnergarth/2015/11/13/is-cheerios-protein-a-sugar-bomb-with-just-a-smidge-more-protein/

@lauraellen80 Wow!! Thank you for that. I will definitely stop eating them or definitely cut back on how much I do eat of them. I am going to switch over to mostly veggies and leave some of the carbs alone. After a year and a half, I should have them thing down pat by now. Geesh. :(

I often top my Greek yogurt with a couple tablespoons of a lower-sugar, higher-Protein granola. Bear Naked and KIND are the ones that I've found with the best stats.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
