TheNewME71 1 Posted December 23, 2015 So we all know the New Year is around the corner and I have read plenty of forums about drinking. I had mt sleeve on 14 of Sept. I am 3 months post. I am not trying to get wasted but I would like to have a toast when I get there. I am nervous but at the same time if I am not drinking a whole hard drink would I be ok. Please tell me your experience with drinking 3 months after surgery Thanks
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted December 23, 2015 I am not a big drinker so can't give you advice there other than to find something else to drink like Water. But, this post made me laugh because when I think of preparing for New Year's the FIRST and LAST thing I think of is still food: I already have black-eyed peas, greens, and okra at the ready for New Year's Day! mark1733 224 Posted December 23, 2015 I found out really quick that RNY will make you a cheap drunk. I have only had a drink 3 times since my WLS in March but it was little amounts and it made me very buzzed. I always enjoyed a beer or 2 at a game or out on the boat but thats all changed for me. Make sure you dont drink on an empty stomach is all i can say. Oh and have someone with you just in case
Brooklynrain 12 Posted December 23, 2015 I'm over a year and a half and I haven't tried a drink yet. Not because I'm scared of the side affects but because I hear of WLS patients turning into big drinkers. Socially we are out more and partying more so naturally we would have a drink or 4 before surgery. It's even more important to control that behavior and ask yourself, do I really need an alcoholic drink to bring on the new year? Not worth ruining your night or developing a bad habit. Take it easy and enjoy your healthier life. I'm glad you asked this question because I'm sure there are tons of people who wanted to. Enjoy your new year!!!
