mrs w 56 Posted December 23, 2015 Hi everyone! I'm scheduled to be sleeved January 9th! I'm quite active now, group cardio and weight classes 4-6 times a week. I realize after surgery weights are a no-no for at least 6 weeks, and I think my current cardio classes would be too intense on the little energy I'll have, but I'm wondering if anyone has taken up Pilates or yoga shortly after the surgery. Any recommendation on how long to wait? I do have a treadmill so planning on that too, but I tend to get e trembly bored just walking so looking for something else. I'm going to Mexico and although I'm sure the surgeon will be great, I won't have any regular check ups. I also don't have a NUT, and plan on mostly keeping the procedure to myself (would rather not hire a personal trainer and share the details). Long story short, anyone start Pilates or yoga 3 or so weeks after?
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com 285 Posted December 23, 2015 Hi there. I did Pilates after my surgery. It is going really well and I just adore it. But I waited about four weeks after surgery before I did any of the heavy stuff like the pilates is one hundreds. I tried a little bit before four weeks and I noticed some pressure in my incision so that's why I waited about 4 weeks.
OKCPirate 5,323 Posted December 23, 2015 You want to wait four week to keep the pressure off your external and internal incision. Respect the sleeve the first four weeks. If you think about it you will see why a stomach is hard to heal. I just walked the first month following surgery and added yoga two months later.
