NSV - Shopping at a Regular Store

Recommended Posts

I have had to order or have most of my clothes made for several years now. The last time I placed an online order for a sweater it turned out to be too big (even though I had measured a few weeks before). Today, I stopped at the local JC Penney and bought three sweaters a size smaller and they fit. This should tide me over through Christmas and New Years and I hope I can make it a couple of months before having to buy more since I don't mind sweaters that are a bit big. The next time I go in there I should be out of the Women's section, at least for my tops!

ditto! I bought off the mark down rack at Wal-Mart recently and was tickeled that I could wear a 12/14 in a shirt. I am a bit chesty so this was a big deal.

I bought a sweatshirt to see Star Wars this past weekend from Kmart. A year ago I would have paid 3 times the price at torrid or someplace. Even though I knew the size said it should fit, it looked small to me. I it on and was supersized that it fit.

I remember buying my first pair of shorts in the Misses section - I stood in the dressing room and cried. I took them to register and purchased them without even checking the tag. Reality sunk in when I realized about three hours later, but I didn't care. I will keep those shorts for the rest of my life.

Wishing you continued success and many trips to the Misses section!

Very cool, Mrs ISG.....very cool indeed.

You are doing great and will continue to do great.

I just kicked Casual Male to the curb, too. Done. Getting into stuff available in regular stores is going to be fun.....Hell, I may even enjoy shopping. Always hated it before.

To add, I was able to get three sweaters plus a necklace and earrings for what I would have spent on one sweater with shipping before!

How great! I recently had to buy all new clothes and got new ones. I plan to have them taken in by a tailor when they get too big to get some extra life out of them. I tried consignment shops, but didn't have any luck. I find shopping overwhelming now. I think I have had only one thing I tried on that I didn't like recently and it was because of the style of the dress, not because I hated the way I looked. It's a wonderful feeling.

Not shopping in stores yet, but did just place an online order for some 3xl-tall shirts from Old Navy. Hoping those tide me over for at least a month or two as most of my 5xl and 4xl shirts look like circus tents on me right now.

I sure hope I never have to step foot in one of their stores again. Hideous clothing at ridiculous prices.

I just kicked Casual Male to the curb, too. Done.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
