Just had my surgery on Friday. Still sore as heck in belly area. Been walking and trying to drink, but just can't drink anymore. Question: how long is the soreness going to last? And does it get easier to drink.

i was sleeved on dec 11th. of course everyone is different, but i no longer have any soreness. i would say after 6 days soreness was totally gone. Drinking definitely gets better. i dont track as well as i should but i figure my Water intake is in the 60 oz range and about 75 grams of Protein. 3 days out it was probably half that. good luck we are sleeved a week apart.

I had surgery on the 18th I'm still sore and suffering from gas pains any time I drink! Still hoping for the pains to go soon :(

Yes and Yes. The soreness will go away. Try using ice every 20 minutes for 20 minutes. It takes a few days but you will get better and better.

Drinking does get 1 million times easier. I couldn't drink my first few days. It hurt and I couldn't get it down. I had to be re-hospitalized for a few days to get re-hydrated. Once I hit day 10 it was easier to take sips and eventually bigger drinks and now I can gulp and chug. It just takes time for your stomach to go down from being so swollen and for the incision inside to heal. Just be patient and set a timer and try to drink 1/2 and oz every 7 minutes. That's one sip. That will keep you hydrated. I did that the first 2 weeks and HATED that stupid timer, lol. When I hit my 64oz each day I was done drinking for the rest of the day - I don't recommend that but it was sort of my reward for myself. I hit my goal so now I can stop.

Good Luck and Welcome to the Losers Bench! Glad to have you!

I was sleeved on the 15th and I would say I was feeling better on Sunday. Yesterday I felt great, and same with today. At first I couldn't drink Water like o was supposed to and couldn't tolerate Protein but now it's no issue. It will get better, I promise!

I was started on Protein the day after my surgery. My doctor said that the protein runs through your GI trac and will cause diarrhea in some people

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
