Have you not received any guidance from your bariatric team about when you can eat raw veggies? Check with them -- every program is a little different. I wasn't allowed raw veggies for 6 months post op, but my program is very conservative. I still rarely choose salad -- I don't find it to be nutritionally worth my valuable stomach space, and eating protein-forward leaves little room for wads of raw lettuce. I max out at about 1/4 cup of salad (after I eat my Protein, which always comes first).

You may try to eat salad when you are cleared for raw and crunchy vegetables. As to whether or not you can that depends on each individual.

You won't have a lot of room for bulky greens for a while. Your primary focus should be on Protein.

I am over 6 months out and usually eat the toppings off of a salad and a few of the greens, but it isn't the main part of my meal.

Same. I was at six months before I was allowed salads and raw veggies. Lettuce and greens just sit in my tummy like slime and do not provide satisfaction anymore.

I am 1 month out and just want a salad. When will I be able to eat salad and how much will I be able to eat?

Talk you your nutritionist. Different programs allow raw veg at different stages. I had salad at 6 weeks once I was out of soft foods. I am vegetarian so my body is used to processing raw vegetables with no issues.

Also be clear on what you define as salad. For me I like dark, leafy green veg with a bit of Protein. I do not however need a bunch of sugary Salad Dressing. My salads are dressed either with olive oil or salsa. I then add all the crunchy veg I want. I just make sure to have some Protein to balance it out. For me that's typically black Beans and a hardboiled egg with a bit of shredded cheese.

I also find that what many are missing is just something with crunch after so many weeks of liquids and soft food. Try topping your Soup with some nuts or baked cheese crisps and see if that doesn't satisfy the need for crunch

I hope i will not to put a damper on this topic. I am nine months out and I still cannot eat salads. The lettuce keeps coming back on me so we haven't added it to my diet.

A salad doesn't have to have lettuce. It can be your favorite fresh veg and Protein. Some days I do cucumbers, tomatoes and a black Beans for a salad. Add a bit of finely diced jalepenos for a bit of zip.

I like adding "salad" stuff to cottage cheese.

I top my cottage cheese with fresh sliced Tomato, cucumber, Kalamata olives, and/or other salad toppings, etc.

I got a side salad the other day at a restaurant with my entree and bright it home because I didn't have room to eat it then. I used it to top my cottage cheese for a full meal.

Since I rarely eat bread, most things are a salad for me. I also like adding warm things to my salad. Sauteed onions/peppers/mushrooms, a sunny side up egg. I switch it up to keep things interesting.

That sounds delish ????

I have a mixed salad with tuna or grilled chicken. I usually end up eating tuna or chicken mostly and 2 bites of the actual vegetables before I get full. I always dress with lemon/olive oil.

I had a little shredded lettuce with taco meat and cheese at about 2 months out. I didn't have an actual salad until 4+ months. Even then I kept it small.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
