Do You Eat Breakfast? What Do You Have?

Recommended Posts

I have eaten Breakfast all my life.

Now, I am retired. When I get up, I have 2 cups of coffee, then either some cottage cheese with 1 multi grain toast or 1 scrambled egg and 1 multigrain toast or English muffin (whole wheat)

I put some Triple fruit jam on it, 5g of carbs per tb

Good!

I eat Breakfast every day. I start out with a packet of instant oatmeal mixed with Water. When it's heated I drizzle a little honey over the top and mix in about 1/3 cup granola. I then stir it all together and eat about 1/3-1/2. It's a carby way to start the morning and the only Protein really comes from what is included in the granola and oatmeal, but it keeps me full for a few hours and it's pretty much the same breakfast I've had everyday since I hit goal 8 months ago. I appease my stomach by not feeding her more traditional Protein breakfasts (egg, chicken, yogurt) because this tends to result in puking almost instantly and I make up for it later in the day when my temperamental stomach is a little more awake and tolerant.

I never was into eating till like 1:00 pm. After I had my rny, I have a Protein shake in the morning hopefully by 10:00 am...I never feel hungry so I'm glad I can look at the clock as to when to eat.

Work days.....up at 4:30. Premier Protein shake & my Vitamins go down......coffee is making while I grab a shower and get dressed.

Fill up a travel mug of coffee, Splenda and a shot of Fairlife 2% milk.

30 oz bottle of Water in hand all day at work.......refilling it throughout the day. I drink a ton of Water.< /p>

Work meals are pouches of tuna, grilled chicken breast and other similar eats from the cafeteria.....or I take my own grilled stuff from home.

Days off.......wake up and mix a shake and do the coffee thing. Last few days I've had fun grilling and chilling.....while wrapping up the Christmas gifts that UPS guy keeps dropping off. Fun times.

Each morning, I start my day with a Protein shake, and when I want to mix it up, I have a bar. There is nothing like knowing you already have 30g Protein in the bag. Gives me time to focus on the other 35-40g.

Also, I do much better with liquid, since my belly only holds so much. In all honesty, the shake is more like a pre-breakfast, since I have it between 6 and 630 (start it). By 10, I usually have some form of egg white and something to add to it.

I always eat breakfast. Generally 4-5 oz triple zero vanilla Greek yogurt with about 1 oz berries on top or a RTD Premier Protein shake. My surgeon always advocates getting your Protein in food forms rather than relying on shakes, but I still do 1 per day since they're convenient and delicious!

absolute must for me, is a dose of the Holy Shredded Wheat w/Bran.

Add a handful of frozen blueberries, maybe a bit of Peanut Butter, a little stevia & a 1/2 cup of skim milk or hot Water.

Something different most every day. Yesterday was a handful of cashews, today was kimchee, 1/8 cup of rice and a fried egg.

I have some kind of Protein within one hour of when I get up. 1 egg scrambled or hard boiled egg keeps me full for 3-4 hours (but I've really tired of eggs.) So I mix it up with yogurt or my old standby Syntax fuzzy navel.

This is usually my time to grab a shake - most days I'm a stick in the mud, I throw a fist full of frozen berries into some chocolate Matrix and call it done. If I'm really hungry I might have an egg or something.

Then, there are days when I completely fall off the wagon and stuff a Peanut Butter and jelly sandwich in my gaping maw. It's a process, lol.

During the week I get up early 4:30 and have coffee, Creamer, Protein mixed in. Then I work out. Between 6:30-7 am I have a shakeology with a handful of strawberries or blueberries. Start work then around 9 I have the weight control Quaker oatmeal maple and brown sugar. I usually add in a little unflavored Protein.

Weekends-Since I am on maintenance I have whatever I want but I always have Breakfast :)

I like to read the previous posts to get ideas.

Thanks-

LA

I typically have one of the following:

1. low calorie/sugar greek yogurt

2. low carb toast topped with low fat cottage cheese and sugar free fruit preserves

3. ProtiDiet Cereal and almond milk

4. high Protein waffle or pancake with sugar free Syrup and fruit

5. eggs occasionally with salsa and Beans, but the eggs sit heavy for me, so I don't have them often

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
