Do You Eat Breakfast? What Do You Have?

Recommended Posts

On work days I have a large travel mug of coffee or tea for Breakfast. Sometimes, if I need to get gas I will grab a muffin or cinnamon roll or breakfast sandwich at the gas station. Eat 1/2 of the muffin or roll or just the egg and meat out of the sandwich. But more often than not my first food on a workday is a Quest bar around 10:30-11am

Weekends I always have breakfast, pretty much whatever I'm in the mood for, usually a high Protein option.....omelet, Protein pancake and sausage, Bob's Red Mill 10 grain Cereal with Protein Powder, bacon and cheese, Greek yogurt with flax seed and Kashi go lean cereal, etc.

This morning I had a scrambled egg with cheese and salsa and 1/2 grapefruit.

Most days I have cottage cheese. I've tried cereal but I just don't feel good after eating it. Other standards are a Protein Shake or greek yogurt. I have slways been a breakfast eater. I am certainly not proud of the crap I used to eat for breakfast.

I have never been a breakfast eater. Ever. I'm just not hungry. Since surgery, I have a Premier Protein shake every day around 830 or 9. That's after I've been up 3 hours and had a couple cups of coffee. It's a great way to get Protein in. Without that, I would not be getting close to my protein goals.

You should take your vitamins with a bit if fat (whole milk, Peanut Butter, coconut oil, regular cottage cheese, piece of bacon or cheese, etc). The fat soluble vitamins ....A, D, E, K.... need fat in order to be absorbed. Otherwise they just pass through. A friend of mine who had bypass 8 years ago recently developed a bleeding disorder due to low Vitamin K. I always take my multi with the fattiest meal of the day.

an omelet or scramble of 6 T. liquid egg whites, 1 oz. lo fat cheese, 1/4 c. chopped broccoli, and some salsa. if i don't get my Protein in early, i have a hard time reaching my daily goals. ALSO no breakfast= poor choices later in the day.

i find that i am developing an allergy to poor choices. it's a good problem to have!

Two eggs, mix in some onions and mushrooms, two pieces of turkey bacon, 1/4 cup of Fage yogurt with some blue berries. I always assume that Breakfast may be the only meal I get in a day, so I make it count.

Oh never heard of that before. My labs have all been perfect though. I do the same thing at night too. I guess I'll talk to my doctor when I go in March about it. Don't want to not be absorbing my Vitamins.< /p>

M-F I drink about 20 oz of Water on my drive into work. Then after I have been at work about an hour and a half I get 1 scrambled egg with spinach, tomatoes and feta cheese and 1 sausage link. I think I am going to eliminate the link. I had stopped having it for a while but my skin was getting really dry since I wasn't getting enough fat in during the day.

Weekends I will pick at left overs, have a shake, make pork roll and and egg.

I can't eat breakfast too soon after I get up or it just sits like a lead balloon. I also find I do better if I can get in a good portion of my daily Water before breakfast.

Honestly, I have some just because it tends to be a golden rule, but the morning is when the sleeve is least cooperative and will tolerate the least amount of food or drink. Greek yogurt is about the max. However, an additional post-op benefit to having Breakfast is that it will have your sleeve warmed up to get your proper mid-day nutrition, as opposed to eating a few bites and then just being ravenous in the later PM, when you are supposed to steer clear of calories.

Every day. I have a few choices in rotation. My usual breakfast is 3 oz ground turkey with some spinach and .5oz shredded cheese. On days where I know my exercise is going to be more intense I eat overnight oats made with Greek yogurt, fair life milk and Peanut Butter. When I'm lazy and don't plan ahead I'll eat my left over dinner from the night before or a carton of light and fit greek yogurt with a tablespoon of PB2!

Before weight loss surgery I would eat anything in the house from pizza, spaghetti, sandwiches, etc. Now that I am 4 weeks Post-Op I usually have a Protein Shake, but will slowly be moving to cottage cheese and fruit or yogurt.

Work days.....up at 4:30. Premier Protein shake & my Vitamins go down......coffee is making while I grab a shower and get dressed.

Fill up a travel mug of coffee, Splenda and a shot of Fairlife 2% milk.

30 oz bottle of Water in hand all day at work.......refilling it throughout the day. I drink a ton of Water.< /p>

Work meals are pouches of tuna, grilled chicken breast and other similar eats from the cafeteria.....or I take my own grilled stuff from home.

Days off.......wake up and mix a shake and do the coffee thing. Last few days I've had fun grilling and chilling.....while wrapping up the Christmas gifts that UPS guy keeps dropping off. Fun times.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
