A year ago, I couldn't have...

Recommended Posts

Okay, finish the sentence "One year ago, I couldn't have..." What? For me, a year ago, I couldn't have worked 12 days in a row, catered 4 events in 2 days, put in 25 hours of overtime, assisted with classroom parties and attend Christmas parties of my own without being completely exhausted. Sure, I was tired, but not mind numbing, @$$ dragging, near tears all day exhausted. And I even drive several people home who drank too

much, not getting home until 3:30 am (after being awake for 24 hours!) and I could function the next day! One year ago?? Forget it!! I'd still be in bed trying to sleep!

So, how about you?? What can you do this year that you couldn't do last?

A year ago, I couldn't have tied my own shoes.

trimmed my own toenails.

rolled over in the bed without getting exhausted.

walked around the block.

oh interesting topic

a year ago I could not...

tie my shoes

put my own socks on

clip my toenails

sit in my car without my tummy pressing against the steering wheel

walk more than a few yards without needing a break

roll over in bed

sleep on my back

sleep on my stomach

look at myself in the mirror

A year ago I couldn't.....

Look in a mirror and be confident

Cross my legs comfortably

Feel good about wearing a dress for the first time in 15 years

Walk more than a couple of blocks without sweating profusely

Fit through a medium dog door to get back in the house after I locked myself out.

This actually happened yesterday :)

I got a hysterical mental picture of that, Babbs! ???? Now THAT'S a great NSV.

A year ago I couldn't run more than 30 seconds without feeling I would have a heart attack. Now I can run five minutes without any pain.

Babbs, you are too cute!!

I will be back to update this after my surgery!

Here is what I plan to say!

-climbed a mountain with my husband (the thought of hiking up a 14,000 ft mountain makes me cringe at this point)

- rode my bike by myself for an hour on the canal by my house ( right now I am having balance issues and wanting to hide my body issues)

- walked 5 miles, 4 to 6 times each week, at 3.5 mph (currently I am at 4 days a week for 2 miles at too slow mph and was aiming for 3 mph and just couldn't do it)

- get through 9 Rounds kick boxing without stopping and be able to do a double session (currently I can get to round 7 without feeling like I am going to throw up but no way can I do a double class)

Looking forward to being 1 year put instead of 1 week pre op!

...walk more than 100 feet without my back hurting. Now I can walk both my 65lb dogs for 1+ miles no problem.

...get up a flight of stairs without getting winded. Now I can jog up the stairs easily.

...cross my legs. Now I can and do all the time, even though I shouldn't!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
