:banana Hello Everyone,

Just going to drop a quick note. Got tired of lying in bed, plus was told I need to walk around some. Everything went well with the surgery. Very sore and afraid to eat.

I've had one small Jello cup and not a whole one and maybe 8 ounces of juice and it took a long time to cosume the juice. I feel very bloated passing gas though. and belching a whole lot. My left should blade is sore and my port side is very sore. I quess this is to be expected. But, i'm glad i've crossed over to this side. And I would like to thank everyone who prayed and kept me in their thoughts.. My initial weight on 1-22-04 when i started the liquids was 258 day of surgery 249. So that's great looking forward to more weight loss. We'll time to go, will post later

Thanks again,

Fran

Welcome home Fran! Yes, the left shoulder is referred pain from the stretching of your diaphragm. It is to be expected for several days to weeks, but I promise it does get better. Practice your breathing exercises and walk, walk, walk. You'll do fine!

Well hello there, Banded Fran! Glad to see you. I'm a little concerned that you said you are afraid to eat because I was wondering if your doctor told you to eat so soon. Most of us had to stay on liquids for a week or two. Did he give you aftercare instructions? A heating pad for that shoulder pain worked wonders for me and I also put it under my back to relieve some of the gas & bloat. Good job on not having a rough time!

normal soon though.

Yeah, Fran, you're a Bandster!! Please take care of yourself and don't overdo. Walk, walk, walk, and drink, drink, drink! Mylicon Baby Gas drops works great for the gas pains. Also, just standing in a warm shower, with the showerhead on pulse feels great on your back and shoulder blades. It really does get better every day!

fran.... shoulder pain is from gas..... for some reason, it radiates to shoulders.... any type of simethicone(generic name) mylicon, gas x, etc.... will help the gas break up... also warm fluids, (teas)... and movement...... hope all goes well...

what i meant by eating is Clear Liquids for instance Jello and juice i should have said afraid to cosume something not exactly eat. I am following everything to a tee. And i have some typing errors. I meant my weight was 258 on 11-22-04 not 1-22-04. Gas pains last night were miserable., had to sleep sitting up in my recliner chair in the living room. have taken tums and maalox with minimal relief. hurts when i take a deep breath also. Ok I guess i've complained enough. But this is just how i'm feeling right now.

Until next time.

Fran

Hi Fran,

That all sounds pretty normal to me. I understood what you meant before the corrections too. They gave me Jello in the hospital when I had gotten my band so I am under the assumption that Jello is considered a clear liquid because it melts in our mouth too. Don't know... LOL. I'm glad everything went well otherwise and hope your healing goes easily. Teresa

Congratulations, Fran! The shoulder and gas pains are pretty common after banding. Some of us find that a heating pad helps. Hang in there -- you'll probably feel a lot better in another day or two.

fran maalox and tums are not gonna do it, you need mylicon, or gas x something with simethicone..... i'm a nurse,,, trust me....good luck, won't be uncomfortable for that much longer...

Hey there, don't consider anything band related complaining. You have a new implant around your belly, and we've all been through it. I've been whining for 7 months here and everyone is still nice to me! Try the heating pad on your lower back for the gas pains. I put my heating pad everywhere that there wasn't an incision. It helped a lot. Nothing else helped my gas pains though - I just had to wait it out. And I started feeling a little better after a couple days, but then it got worse for a week. I asked if that was normal, and lots of people experienced the same thing. Drink your water!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
