I got sleeved 12/10. 7 day clear liquid which ended 12/7 after my one week check up. I was scared to try soft foods but my mom insisted saying she doesn't want me to become malnourished. So I tried Triple Zero Dannon Oikos Yogurt..I was drinking Water before hand and during. I got 3 half spoonfuls in before it came back up. It was the worst stomach pain I'd felt in a while. It was all white and yogurt. Now I'm afraid to try it again and I'm afraid I might've damaged my stomach in someway. Someone give me some feedback please. I'm 21 and extremely scared I made the wrong choice.

Well you're not supposed to drink while you eat, didn't your NUT tell you this? While everyone has different instructions it's a pretty universal thing that you're not supposed to drink half an hour before and half an hour to 45 minutes after eating

it's also possible you ate too fast or had too much

I'm 4 months out and occasionally throw up if I ate too fast

Well I didn't know that was for soft foods too. But thanks.

You're fine.

Too much liquid with food (something I still can't do without yacking at 2.5 years out) isn't good. You've not damaged something, I'd guess, but you are not teaching yourself good habits by doing so.

I was at 2 spoons of yogurt at 6 weeks out. Go slower, eat less at a sitting. I still eat every 2-3 hours but only a 1/2 cup at a sitting max.

this applies to all food. This is really something your nutritionist should have gone over with you

You'll be fine. I haven't had it yet but I've heard of a lot of people throwing up. Even right after the surgery. I bet your stomach is stronger than you think :). I wish I would've done it at 21! I'm 29 and when I was your age I thought I could conquer the world! Have that attitude and keep going. When your my age you'll look back and thank goodness you did it when you did. :)

are you supposed to be on soft foods? I ask because I am almost 3 weeks post op and I'm supposed to be on liquids and Soups. I can have pureed food around week 5. You probably got sick from eating and drinking at the same time or maybe you need more time on liquids. If your surgeon or NUT says you can have soft food, then remember to have liquids 30-45 minutes before and after eating, that way you're getting in all your nutrients. Good luck!

Take tiny bites and let it sit for a couple before taking another, especially when trying something new. Sometimes I accidentally eat a bit too fast and it tries to come back up. I haven't thrown up at all but I'm always afraid to!

Try using a toddler spoon, appetizer-sized spoon, or just the tip of a regular-sized teaspoon to take tiny bites. Go slowly and put your spoon down between bites. It takes practice, just be patient and gentle with yourself.

Thank you for giving me actual advice! I'm definitely gonna try the baby spoon method.

It was mostly Water I threw up cause I had been drinking lots of water cause I was soooo thirsty but thank you. I'll slow it down.

This is one of those things I was talking about in another post with the lack of proper education about surgery. It's not the original poster's fault she wasn't told something, but not eating and drinking at the same time is one of those basic rules that your nutritionist should go over with you pretty much on day one.

I was full blown 4 alarm scared too. I cried going in. After the surgery was over, so was me being scared. Just trust you picked a great doctor they consider your life a gift to them and this is a present to your future self!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
