Just had my sleeve yesterday. The only real pain I have is in my right shoulder I also had hernia repair too. I know it's common but any suggestions on how to get rid of it quickly? I'm using gas x strips. Would a heating pad help??? Thanks for any ideas!

Sadly nothing helped me. It lasted for over a week. Sorry you are experiencing it.

I'm curious too. I bought the Gas X strips also, anticipating the shoulder pain, but would love to hear what others found that helped them. Thanks for posting this question!

A heating pad certainly won't hurt, it helped me a lot, along with the pain meds which helped me relax and sleep.< /p>

My husband would firmly rub my back and shoulders until I burped and it really helped. Kind of like patting a baby on the back to get them to burp.

I didn't have the pain in my shoulders but a lot of people have said that walking really helps.

Congratulations on the surgery and best wishes for a speedy recovery!

I had my sleeve on the 15th, the gas pain is the worst part and it still continues to be but on a much smaller scale. Walking helps a lot though! Walk as much as you can.

Walk walk walk. I honestly tried to burp as much as possible to get rid of all the gas but walking was the best thing to do

Ohhhh the dreaded shoulder gas pain ... such a lovely thing to add on top of all the things your body has already gone through !

Yes, walking does help ... but that is about it ... It's just something you have go to through and it lasts about a week ...

I tried the heating pad ... the gas x strips ... the rubbing of the back ( that just got annoying ) ... nothing would relieve it ...

It was more painful than any other part of the surgery ...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
