brandy25 7 Posted December 18, 2015 Hi There, Did anyone have a hard time swallowing pills after the initial surgery? I've been told that you can't "gulp" beverages after the surgery but I'm worried I will have a difficult time taking my regularly prescribed medication. Especially right after the surgery and weeks to come. Any advice?
catwoman7 11,220 Posted December 18, 2015 the only pill I waited on taking whole was ursodiol, because the capsule was pretty big. I think I started taking that the 3rd week out. Everything else I started taking as soon as I got home from the hospital. Never had any problems with them
tappingmom 85 Posted December 18, 2015 I've been cutting mine into pieces to make them easier to swallow. I wouldn't be able to get them down whole with just a sip of Water. I'm hoping it will get easier as time goes on, I'm just 1 week post-op.

SaaxySam09 17 Posted December 19, 2015 At the pre-op education class I went to (in MN), a pharmacist talked to us all and told us to use a pill splitter to make them the size of a pencil eraser or smaller. I would follow-up with your doctor/surgeon because some meds can't be split. I hope you find a solution! Good luck.
