So I'm just 17 days post op and the pounds fell off in the beginning, something every single day, it seems. For the past five days I've stayed about the same. What's up with that? I'm hardly eating anything yet the scale isn't showing it? Does my body just need some adjustment time or something? I lost about 12 pounds prior to surgery with the pre-diet and I've lost 13 more pounds since surgery.

Just curious....

I am going to go with yes, your body is adjusting. Just make sure you are getting in Fluid and Protein, and if you aren't walking a lot, you should be. It will pass and your body is still healing

yeah, stalls are common. I stalled just one week after surgery. The scale didn't budge for 4 solid weeks. When I went to my NUT she told me that my body was just adjusting and that the weight would start coming off again. She upped my calories to 800 a day and told me to move towards 1000 by 3 months out. My stall broke and I lost another 10 lbs before the next stall...

My surgeon said basically the same thing at my 2 month check up. He said that with many people weigh loss happens like stair steps. We take a step down - then there is a plateau for awhile while our body adjusts - then we take another step down.

So...don't be overly concerned. You have lost a lot in a very short period of time. Let your body catch up. Keep following whatever your doctor's plan is and eventually the stall will break and you will start losing again (until the next stall :))

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Almost everyone experiences their first stall about three weeks post-op.

Embrace the Stall!

You are welcome. This is one of those things I wish I had learned pre-op. It might have saved me years of frustration and yo-yo dieting.

There will be many stalls. But as the others have said, it's your body catching up with your body's new normal. I just hit my six month mark with an 80+ weightloss. Looking at it from here, It doesn't make the stalls look that bad. They seem to average out, some weeks fast, some slower.

We're cheering for you. Keep up the good work.

So after my rant, I thought I'd let you know the scale moved today, like two and a half pounds. Yay! Consistency and patience are definitely the words of the day/week/month/year/lifetime!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
