kdelrosso 124 Posted December 18, 2015 I had my surgery and the doctor said it was a complete success . I'm waiting to go for my upper GI to make sure there are no leaks.what I'm questioning is that, I know the gas pain is horrific and of course my stomach is going to be sore, but i have thrown up 4 times since I've been placed in my room. Everyone is its normal I'm just curious to know if anyone had the same side effect after the surgery. They are all saying the first 24 hours are the worst
Rachel Pittsburgh 29 Posted December 18, 2015 My friend had the bypass and he threw up 3 times when he had to take the medicine to check for any leaks etc. He said that was the worst thing ever, but the next day he felt fine. Hang in there and hold a pillow tight against your belly, sometimes that helps. Ask for nausea meds!!! keep sucking on ice chips too!!!
tmcx28 297 Posted December 18, 2015 My friend that had the sleeve threw up a lot in the hospital. So much that she had to stay 2 extra days because she couldn't keep anything down. I was lucky not to, but I had read so many stories of people getting sick that I was afraid I would. It seems to be a regular thing.
A New KK 104 Posted December 18, 2015 I threw up twice day after. My husband rubbed my back and shoulders when I had gas pain and it helped me burp and release the gas. He would rub my back several times a day in the week following the surgery and that gave me a lot of comfort and helped the gas pains pass. Good luck and congrats. Mariggle 7 Posted December 18, 2015 I was sleeved on Tuesday 12/15. I have not vomited at all. My understanding is the anesthesia is what makes people sick, fortunately I have never had adverse effects from anesthesia. I'm on day # 4 and feeling wonderful. So, I think in aday or so you should be feeling pretty much back to normal. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
beckyrow 18 Posted December 18, 2015 I was sleeved on 12/14 and vomited right after surgery and right after going home. What helped me to stop was no more pain meds. They made me sick. Yes I'm sore, but it's not as bad as vomiting hurts, so I'm toughing it out. My surgery was 5 days ago and I feel great! I'm already 24 lbs down!!
