Gaintheworld 19 Posted December 17, 2015 I'm 10 days out and my tongue still feels strange, kind of like when you scald it, but I didn't. Also still have metallic taste in mouth all the time. Chewing gum helps some, but even gum doesn't taste right. Did anyone else have this? How long did it last?
LetItGo 73 Posted December 17, 2015 Yes, and I was told that Anesthesia can cause changes in your sense of smell and taste. I am 5 weeks out and the sensation is finally gone. Everything tastes as it did before surgery. One thing of note...if you are dehydrated or your body is in ketosis (burning fat), you will have a foul taste and smell to your breath. Brush frequently and use tic tacs!
Gaintheworld 19 Posted December 17, 2015 Thank you! I am glad to hear this will be a temporary thing, was kind of worried it might be permanent.
JamieLogical 8,713 Posted December 17, 2015 You're allowed gum? Lucky! But, yes, ketosis is a likely culprit. Make sure you are getting all your Water in too.
