WorkinOnMe 596 Posted January 13, 2016 Going through Dartmouth Hitchcock, having surgery at the Elliot in Manchester. I just attended my first support group meeting. Surgery day can't come soon enough lol Let me know if you have any questions ... that is my program too and I am now one of the graduate speakers for the meetings. Dr. Gould is awesome & so is the staff. The nurses at Elliot were laughing at me because of all the laps I did around the floor at 1 & 2 am!
CANOEINNH 15 Posted January 18, 2016 I was sleeved at Tufts in Oct 2014. Wish I had done it sooner, but maybe I wasn't ready. Delighted with the results. Approaching 100 pounds gone. The stalls or plateaus are the hardest part for me. Newly retired and living the energy. Also since surgery have had both knees replaced and one shoulder. Excellent results. Blamo 35 Posted January 18, 2016 Going through Dartmouth Hitchcock, having surgery at the Elliot in Manchester. I just attended my first support group meeting. Surgery day can't come soon enough lol Are the support groups open? And for post-op folks? I would love to get information, thoughts and .....well, support from others locally who have had this done and going to.
hunnycup 14 Posted January 20, 2016 Hmm, I don't know about post op support. I hope there is something out there. WorkinOnMe, maybe I'll see you at one of the next meetings ????
CANOEINNH 15 Posted February 3, 2016 There are post op meetings once a month at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. I just go. I'm also part of a group in Boston. It's a long way, but I really need it. We are switching to online meetings in two weeks. I like the live meetings, but will probably do ok. Communication with like minded people is most important to me. Hope everyone is hanging in there. Each day is a new beginning. I remind myself.
Blamo 35 Posted February 3, 2016 Well, and maybe I am naïve about these things, why can't a group of us locally establish something? Seems simple enough. Every library I have been associated with lets groups gather there. And that is just one option. I would think this could help many. Hmm, I don't know about post op support. I hope there is something out there.WorkinOnMe, maybe I'll see you at one of the next meetings

Blamo 35 Posted February 24, 2016 NH here. Just approved for 3/16/16. And nervous... Don't be too nervous. Of all the surgeries I have had this was the simplest to deal with. The results you will get are well worth any short-lived discomfort you might have. You won't need it but good luck.
