Recommended Posts

I am 24yo 5ft3in tall and I weigh 370. I was wondering if anyone was similar to me before surgery and if so do you have a lot of loose skin

I'm a little over 5'2" and my starting weight was over 400. However I am more than twice your age. So far most of my lose skin appears to be on my lower half. I have been walking since day 1 and returned to the gym at 3 weeks post op. To be honest the lose skin doesn't worry or concern me. Once I hit goal. I'll access the situation and decide if I want to do plastics or not.

At your weight, yes, you will have lots of loose skin. So do I. It's a luxury tax we pay for being able to eat whatever we want over the course of our lives.

Your age may help you with the loose skin. I lost about 100 pounds when I was 30 and had zero loose skin. Everything tightened up wonderfully.

This time around at the age of 43 when I had weight loss surgery I lost 130 pounds and some of my skin is loose. Arms are ok, stomach is the worst.

A lot of things come into play with the loose skin aspect. There is always plastics if you feel you need it.

There are so many factors that come into play with loose skin. There's age, lifestyle choices, skin elasticity, hydration, etc. It's impossible to predict. I would think though that, yes, you will have lose skin. I lost 150 pounds and had lose skin enough to warrant a Tummy Tuck, but even without the TT, it still would have been worth it in the long run. The loose skin is a small price to pay for my health.

Hi I'm also worried about lose skin, I was sleeved on the 18/12 so only a few days out have been instructed to walk 30 mins briskly twice a day and so little hand weights for my arms!

People are all different but there are many things you can try or do, for example dry body brushing, keeping your skin well hydrated and loads of Water, supplements for skin and lots of exercise!

Unfortunately is the lesser of two evils :(

I'm 5'2", and I weighed 200. I have lost 60 lbs. I do have loose skin on my upper arms and around my belly. I'm 54, so I think if I was younger the arms might not have been as bad.

I will say that as I started working out more, the arm flaps got better.

I'm 35 and have lost just over 100 lbs in the 6 months since my surgery. I'm at my goal weight (175) although my BMI is still 25.5--I'm thinking of a new goal weight of 160 now! The bulk of my loose skin is in my breasts. I do have a little on my stomach, upper thighs, and upper arms. Working out has definitely helped with the arms, but there's probably always going to be a bit of a flap there! I may have plastics in the future, but I am happy to take the loose skin over the 100 extra lbs!!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
