The time will pass quickly! I had mine on 2/15. I have had problems with pain, gas, and nausea, but my doc gave me medicine to help and it is very effective. I feel stronger every day. The surgery itself was not bad at all! I do not have any regrets at all. I have started my new road on an adventure to a healthy new life.

Kathychef, I had my surgery o Monday also. Everything has gone well, except for indigestion and some pain. Even drinking Water out of tiny medicine cups gives me indigestion.. It feels as though everything gets stuck at the top of the esophagus . It really hurts!

I'm having the same problem I had my surgery on Tuesday and my chest still hurts a little to breathe deep like the intibation messed me up

It took me days until I felt like I could take a deep breath without coughing. I don't know if it was from my asthma (had an asthma attack during the surgery) or the combo of asthma and intubation but it definitely kept me down for a while. My surgery was on the 11th and just the past couple of days my lungs feel normal.

I had my post op visit today with my Primary Care doc and she doesn't hear anymore wheezing :) Did they give you the thing where you suck your breath in to raise the lever inside the tube which exercises your lungs? I found that actually helped.

Had my surgery yesterday. Let me tell ya it was rough! Today is much much better. If y'all haven't had it done yet ask for the anti-nausea patch for behind your ear. Works wonders! I have been up waking around like an Olympic athlete. Able to tolerate Water and a bit of Jello. Hope everyone is doing well!

See? I felt great the first day and night and like hell the second. They slipped anti-nausea meds into my IV. But it does get better. Stitches coming out today and I feel great.

I had surgery yesterday and the surgery itself wasn't too bad. The incision where they took my stomach out hurts the most. What hurts the most is all the gas they used to inflate my abdomen area so they could see better. Walking certainly do help, but for me walking don't get all the gas out. I have my boyfriend rubbing and patting my back and that helps me to burp

I'm so glad your doing well!! They automatically had put that patch behind my ear and I never felt nauseous. TIP: The nurse told me make sure if you touch that patch, they you immediately wash your hands because if you don't, and you accidently touch your eye, it will dilate your eye for over a week. I thought that was interesting :)

Yeah that gas will take a while to go away. It had gotten so bad after a day and a half that I had them give me the strong pain killer which helped. It started going away after that. Hang in there!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
