FEMALES - DECREASED URINE FLOW - ANYONE?

Recommended Posts

STRANGE QUESTION BUT THAT'S WHAT WE'RE HERE FOR RIGHT!!!

I AM 11 MONTHS OUT AND IT SEEMS SINCE SURGERY I HAVE A DECREASE IN MY URINE FLOW, THE SPEED/VOLUME AT WHICH IT EXITS. I'M JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAS EXPERIENCED THIS.

Obvious / dumb question, but how well are you staying hydrated? Is it clear?

I don't go as much or as often as I used to, but worry more about the color as a backup indicator that I'm getting enough Fluid even if I'm probably not ingesting as much as I did pre-op.

I have the same exact problem as you... just thought it was age-related. Could it be from surgery???

I'm 52. I drink 60 - 70 ounces of fluids a day. I pee like a race horse.

OMG - I thought I was alone. I am drinking A TON but when I have to go, it does not come with the same speed...I really thought I was bonkers. I also do not have the same "urgency". On the plus side, I also do not have any issues with leaking like I did pre-surgery. I'm guessing all the fat squeezing my bladder is gone!

I am 6 months post-op and yep have the same issue as well as not going very often. So very strange.

As far as the speed/volume goes.it could be because you don't have as much weight pushing on your bladder as you used to. Also be sure you are well hydrated. Sounds like to me since you have lost weight there isn't anything pushing on your bladder anymore so you don't have to go as often. That's what's happened to me!

I fought stress incontinence before surgery and urgency and now I don't have any issues. Dr said that's why. Only 5 weeks out and 35lbs down.

I'm not female but had lots of unexpected issues like this before leaving the hospital. My bladder would fill up - way way up - and then wouldn't empty at all. They had to catheterize me three times. Finally the nurses had me up and going every hour or so - I was able to squeeze some out but it was always very little and with like no pressure.

Super odd for me. I'm a 34 year old man...

This lack of flow has continued since being home the past couple days. Hoping it just has to do with anesthesia wearing off - and will resolve itself here soon.

SO GLAD TO HEAR THE REPLIES. I DRINK MORE THAN MY REQUIRED AMOUNT. IT'S NOT THAT I DON'T GO ENOUGH, IT'S JUST THAT I EXITS SLOWER AND WEAKER THAN BEFORE. THE NEW LACK OF STRESS ON THE BLADDER MAKES SENSE!

Yes!!

I am sure it is because I don't ever make it to 64 oZ's a day. I usually get half of that no matter how hard I try.

I don't get the full 64 oz either. But I do know that my sugar levels are WAY down even came off all my meds...when my sugar was high is when I pee more. My Endo said its a definite possibility that since the sugars are down less peeing .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
