So.....apparently I have some willpower issues ????

I started my preop diet and am supposed to have 2 Protein Shakes, 2 Protein Bars, & a light high Protein meal. I am NOT doing well. I have my husband and kids that I have to cook for and Sunday night, I had tator tot casserole( not horrible, but not a light meal). Last night I made chicken friend rice. That would have been okay(sort of) to eat, if I hadn't eaten the left over tator tot casserole from the night before!

Today is a new day, right? My goal is to stick strictly to the plan. I'm having my Protein Shake now, am getting a Quest bar for snack, another protein shake for lunch, and I'm making turkey sausage and peppers for dinner.

Geez! This is harder than I thought ????

@@jembell01 - focus on the pre-op diet. there is a couple of reasons this is required. throw out the leftovers or go walking and let someone else cleanup after dinner, you got this!

@@jane13 is right! Focus on your preop diet. If you follow it you'll start seeing results BEFORE surgery! I was happily apprised to lose 18 pounds (I was 352#) dyeing my preop diet! Surgery went smoothly and my doctor said I'll see great results longterm after surgery based on how well my liver had shrunk from sticking to my preop diet. :D It's crazy hard, emotional and frustrating but possible! It forced me to try to make even healthier meals for my niece and nephew the days I watched them so I could practice for myself after surgery.

One of my favorite healthy meals is lean meat taco salad with salsa for the dressing or simple grilled chicken or salmon with grilled garlic asparagus. Google vsg diet and you'll find a multitude of sites with yummy high Protein recipes to try. My favorites are froedert.com and bariatriceating.com

You've got this @@jembell01

@@jembell01, you can do this. You are JemBell the First.

Plan family dinners ahead and make them what you need to be eating now. Let the kids be your "deputies" so that they're on board with important jobs to do. If they're young enough, pin some sort of badges on them. Your husband is on your side and will be happy with whatever. Beside, it will all be tasty.

And this, my friends, is why I love this forum. As I drink my huge hug of Water at my desk, I was considering eating my Protein Bar ( which it is TOO early in the morning for that). I am reading the responses and I put the bar back down. I'm not hungry & I don't need it yet. Thank you guys!!

It is tough! You are right! I mean, afterall, if sticking to a strict diet were easy, wouldn't we all have done it and skipped having surgery? You've got this. I promise you the end is SO worth the journey. .
