Plastic Surgery

Recommended Posts

Thoughts? Experiences? I am 58, down from 272 to 160 in 14 months. I will likely lose more but am not pushing it. I wear a medium now; I am 5'4". My body is pretty slim now but I carry some excess in my abdomen. I doubt I can justify surgery for that. The skin on my upper arms is a little droopy but that's not a huge deal. My neck drives me nuts though. It's not enough to make people stare or run away but it bugs me! It's just a saggy stretchy spot on my neck like a skinny old lady might have. I hate it! Anyone else looked into plastics?

I had a Tummy Tuck and panniculectomy at about 19 months post op. At that point I had lost 140ish pounds. I have before and after pictures in my blog (linked in my signature) and I think on my profile picture here. I was able to get my insurance to cover it, so I only paid my small co-insurance fee. Second to my sleeve surgery, it was the very best decision ever. It was a tough surgery to recover from , but I'm so glad I did it. I'm now in the process of trying to get my upper arms covered by insurance. After that, I think I am satisfied. :-)

My neck and arms bother me the most and will have to be dealt with. I was watching a movie with Jennifer Connelly in it and thought "I want THAT neck" haha. If only . . . sigh.

How long did it take for you to return to work after your tummy tuck? And did you have a job that requires heavy lifting or a lot of moving? :)

I have an office job, so no heavy lifting. I originally took off 2 weeks of work, but was no where near ready to go back. In fact at that point I still had one of my drains in. I ended up being off a full month and when I went back I was ready, but walking far, bending, lifting, was still uncomfortable.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
