I need some advice.........

:help:After I eat a bite or two of well chewed, moist, solid food I get this feeling of this is just not gonna go down and I have to go and cough it up. I can eat soft foods fine and sometimes solids but most of the time not. I don't have any trouble with liquids. Having this problem is very frustrating. I get agrevated because I can't eat and end up eating something that is soft and high in sugar or calories instead of Protein. I think this is why I haven't lost as much because I can't get in my protein, not to mention I am so tired all the time I don't want to exercise. I know this is not a restriction issue because the food is not getting down far enough and I is after only a couple of bites. Help! What can I do?

Have you had a fill or is your band empty? If you have a fill you should deffinitly call your Dr to see about getting some taken out.

I had that problem for 3 months but didn't go get a slight unfill because I thought I would loose more weight that way but be careful because I didn't loose a pound through all of that went and got a slight unfill of just .35 and lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. I would get a slight unfill it will make all of the difference in the world.

Good luck.

I actually had the same thing happen this weekend and had to get my band unfilled! They took out all the Fluid because I was choking on the food and couldn't get anything down, it was making me gag and I had to cough it up. I feel so much better now, but a little frustrated that I lost all the fluid.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
