I had my first fill on Nov. 10th

Recommended Posts

I went back to my surgeon in CR and had a fill on Wednesday. Everything went fine. I got 1.5cc's in my 11cc band. He put 4cc.'s in during the initial operation so with the fill I am at a total of 5.5cc's. He did it under the X-Ray machine (aka floro???) What exactly is flouro? Is that when you drink the barium? Anyhow, I got to see the band and the port which was easy to access. It took about 1 min, and only as painful as a sting from the needle.

I can barely feel a difference in the fill though. Does it take some time to have the fill set in? I will go back to see him at the end of January (summer there) and have another fill. I was able to get the flu shot while I was there which was nice since there are non around here.

Congratulations on getting an easy fill and your flu shot! That's a double bonus! It can take up to 2 weeks for you to feel the effects of a fill. Please take it easy when you're eating solids. Pea-size pieces, chew, chew, chew, Protein first, then veg, then carbs. if any room left. Try not to eat too much to avoid packing your pouch. Restriction is a funny thing. All is well, then suddenly super restriction kicks in. It keeps us on our toes!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
