Yesterday I went for a 1 mile walk. Then a few hours later I took my 2 year old niece for about a 1/4 mile walk around our subdivision to look at lights. She was waving and blowing kisses to all the blow up characters. When I got home I cried. 3 months ago I never would have entertained doing something like this because I would have been so tired and wouldn't have had the energy. Last night have me more motivation to keep pushing forward because that simple walk told me if I don't succeed I am going to be missing out on a lot of awsome things. We have a littlw ice cream parlor that is only open during summer and I need to get ready to take my baby girl for walks ao she can get her ice cream cones this summer :)

Good for you. These NSV continue to make me emotional too. My favorite one has been when the hubby puts his arms completely around me. Who knew a hug was so GREAT!!!

That is awesome! These are the real reasons we need to lose the weight. Numbers on a scale are so meaningless compared to moments like that.

Last week after WLS, my nurse was walking with me and asked "what was it that made me decide to have the surgery." I told her that "I want to be there for my future grandchildren" ????

The hugs are awsome! It just hit me harder than expected when I realized I was walking with her and bending over to help her pick up the leaves. Its those little things I didn't realize I missed. So today I increased my walk and just dod 1.5 miles. Granted it took me 37 minutes but I did it!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
