Excess skin is months and pounds away...

If it is a genuine "fear" then I suggest you get over it...

Excess skin is a real possibility..

It's not a definite of course...

There are a lot of factors to consider..

But it's a distinct possibility..

What he said.

Plus: Excess skin is a cosmetic matter. There is surgery should one so choose at an appropriate time. You have to decide between obesity and excess skin.

Plus plus: Part of a wise weight-loss program is wise exercise, cardio-vascular and strength. It's not necessarily the full answer, but excess skin looks better over toned muscles than untoned muscles. As said by a wise person.

Whether you choose bariatric surgery is up to you. You won't, however, be able to make a wise choice if you're having hysterics over excess skin. So far I've seen three topics begun. For your sake I hope more don't pop up. Try pen and paper, two columns: Reasons to Lose Weight and Reasons to Stay as I Am or Continue Gaining.

Excess skin is a real possibility when you lose large amounts of weight. There are a few things you can do to try to reduce the severity of it, but a lot of it is also just luck and genetics. While excess skin does suck, it pales in comparison to carrying around 100+ pounds of excess FAT. You should be basing your decision to have this surgery on your health and quality of life, not cosmetic/superficial reasons. If you have this surgery for the right reasons and end up with excess skin, plastic surgery is always an option down the line.

A few things you can do to try to reduces the likelihood of excess skin:

  • Drink LOTS of Water. You should do this anyway, especially post-op, but good hydration is good for your skin.
  • Moisturize daily. There are a lot of options out there. It seems like moisturizers with shea butter are highly recommended.
  • Take supplements. Vitamin C, Vitamin E, beef Gelatin, and Biotin can all benefit your skin.
  • Strength training. Building muscle in the areas where you've lost fat can help "fill out" your loose skin.

It can happen, and probably will happen. There are so many factors to consider though....age, skin elasticity, how much Water you drink, toning, etc. it's hard to predict.

I definitely wouldn't let that concern deter you from surgery. It was minimal compared to the benefits I've gained from surgery.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
