Well, this is just another present in the old swag bag of of sleevedom. Interesting. Let's see what happens.

I find them somewhat keener or perhaps pickier? Anything strong bothers me. I was sleeved on 12/7 and the smell of coffee brewing or bacon cooking nauseates me now.

Yes, this happened to me. I've always been sensitive to smells but for a month after being sleeved it was overwhelmingly strong. I made my husband take the trash out almost every day because I could smell it from across the house.

Making mine shower.... I smelled a funnel cake from two blocks away.

I found this too and three months out it is still the case! In fact, I had a favorite essential oil spray I used to LOVE and use everyday and now I hate it!

I'm over a year out and was standing in the dining room at my parent's last night and said, "I smell marshmallows." My mom looked at me in disbelief and said she opened a cabinet in the kitchen to put something away and there is a giant bag of marshmallows in there. LOL! I've still got it. Mom said I'm a "super smeller".

Unfortunately perfumes, body odor and cigarettes makes me physically ill now. Having a keen sense of smell and working with the public is not a good combination.

I have a theory about starvation levels and the body trying to detect food any way it can, rejecting all but the best. Meh?

Right! If we were back in the days of the caveman and we were starving those that had the best sense of smell to find food would out live the ones that didn't!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
