I had my surgery on December 9. I would have to say that all is going well except the gas!!! I'm getting up and walking and taking warm showers I'm taking Gas-X pills but nothing seems to be helping. The people I know that Have had the surgery said that things went pretty smooth for them and they didn't have this. Please help

I also had my surgery on the 9th and am experiencing the gas in my left shoulder and left upper abdomen...what I would describe as a side stitch. I'm a PA myself but not in surgery, so I asked a friend who is a general surgery PA and she said that gas can last for a while. I woke up with it again this morning and for me it's always the same place! My follow up is this Thursday. If still present, I plan to ask my surgeon.

My surgery was 12/10, a good friend of mine who is a L&D nurse suggested tiny amounts of warm Decaf tea. Also laying flat and trying to roll side to side. The rolling wasn't an option for me with my abdomen being so sore. However, the warm tea really did seem to help.

I also had my husband pat my shoulder & more was released.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
