How far out of surgery are you? Need more info. Vitamins are available in chewables and most prescriptions are available in a liquid form or something better for you to handle. You need to speak to your doctor or pharmacist about changing the type of pill for your prescriptions.

I was told no pills, though others are given different advice. What pills are you taking? Many have a liquid alternative, many can be crushed first, though Multivitamins cannot be crushed, they lose effectiveness.

Yes, how far out? I had problems early on. I was terrified of pills. Terrified they would make me throw up, etc. :(

I was told I couldn't have any pills until 8 weeks out. The first one I tried was a Tylenol (which I used to take all the time before surgery) but I could not get it down. I kept gagging and thinking it was going to make me choke or throwup. I know this was all in my head but it was like this for a few weeks. One day it finally went down without problem and now I can swallow pills without issue.

I was prescribed capsules for my gallbladder and had a bit of a hard time swallowing them day #1, but after that it was ok.

I crushed my tablets for the first couple of days. But according to my surgeon, anything smaller than a regular m&m is ok to swallow. For my omeprazole prescription which is a capsule, I was told to open the capsule and sprinkle the contents on a tsp of applesauce. Not sure you can do that with all capsules if they are meant to be extended release, but worth asking your docs.
